Clear Lake Endoscopy Practice, Bay Area Gastroenterology Provides Endoscopic Ultrasonography Services

Bay Area Gastroenterology Utilizes Latest Technology for Screening

Houston, Texas (Marketwire) - March 30, 2010 - For patients suffering from gastrointestinal disorders, timely diagnosis is extremely important. The physicians at Bay Area Gastroenterology, one of the leading endoscopy practices in Houston, have state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose these conditions.

Dr. Manish Rungta, M.D. has been a practicing physician since 2004. He specializes in many areas of Clinical Gastroenterology, therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a medical procedure in endoscopy (insertion of a probe into a hollow organ) that is combined with ultrasound to obtain images of the internal organs in the chest and abdomen. It can be used to visualize the wall of these organs, or to look at adjacent structures. Combined with Doppler imaging, nearby blood vessels can also be evaluated.

Endoscopic ultrasonography is one of the most accurate imaging tools for diagnosing malignancies of the stomach, esophagus, rectum, pancreas, bile ducts and duodenum. There have been many advances since endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) was first introduced 30 years ago. Endoscopic ultrasonography is most commonly used in the upper digestive tract and is performed by the physicians at Bay Area Gastroenterology, who have had extensive advanced training.

"We are pleased to offer our patients the convenience of endoscopic ultrasound at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital," said Dr. Rungta. “Our entire staff is committed to making each patient feel comfortable during this very accurate diagnostic procedure."

Bay Area Gastroenterology was the first private practice group in the Houston area to offer office based Virtual Colonoscopy for screening of colon cancer. With four offices in Houston, Clear Lake and Pearland, the physicians are equipped to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and maintenance of gastrointestinal health.
